Another great meeting everyone!! Thanks to Lindsey for taking notes!!
First off, Sophia and Naomi are going to look into Disney Friends for Change. They are giving $1,000 grants to groups like our that are working to create positive change in their communities. The grant is due on Wednesday, February 29. Thanks, Sophia and Naomi!
With the amount of time we have to do the work we want to do, we decided that it will be best to take on only one task and the group decided to do a fundraiser. We thought that we would be able to included a presentation, slide show or even skit into the fundraiser to help to get our message across.
Some things we decided about the fundraiser: 1. It will be held at WHS 2. We will vote on the dates after Dezarae checks in with other staff at WHS to make sure there are no conflicts. We are looking at the end of May, beginning of June. 3. We are targeting people who love animals. 4. We are going to offer a simple meal that we are going to try to get donated by a restaurant in the area. Several restaurants were listed and people selected the ones that they want to touch base with. 5. We are going to have it on a Saturday from about 5-7p.m. 6. We are going to have Young Advocates gather items to create baskets to raffle off for additional fundraising. 7. We are going to charge a fee for the event as the primary way to raise money. 8. We thought that we might also sell dog treats and/or cookies for additional fundraising.
Just a quick final note to let you all know that I will be out all next week at a conference so will not be able to check the site regularly. Please keep the conversation going, though and make sure that you are looking into ways that we can put together this fundraiser "on the cheap!"
Thanks to all of you for your hard work and enthusiasm! See you on Tuesday, March 6!!
